bingo may come from a game called Lotto, popular in Italy in 1530. The word bingo comes from a corruption of Beano, the name of a game popular in the US in the 1920s. Beano, on the other hand, is a derivative of the English word "bean", as it was the beans that were used to cover the digits read.
Everyone playing bingo gets a card with a combination of numbers. In each turn, a non-player draws a numbered ball from the container and reads this number for all players to know.
