bingo may come from a game called Lotto, popular in Italy in 1530. The word bingo comes from a corruption of Beano, the name of a game popular in the US in the 1920s. Beano, on the other hand, is a derivative of the English word "bean", as it was the beans that were used to cover the digits read.

Everyone playing bingo gets a card with a combination of numbers. In each turn, a non-player draws a numbered ball from the container and reads this number for all players to know. Then the drawn ball is set aside so that it cannot be drawn again. Each player looks for the called number on his card, and if he finds it - he marks this number. The drawing and announcement of numbers continues until one of the players forms a fixed pattern on his card and then announces it by saying out loud the word "bingo"!
